Unit 13/16. P1-P5.

P1- UNIT 13&16- RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS.

Purpose: The purpose of this magazine is to educate the reader on the cricket players' life. James Vince, the cricket player has responded to the questions in full detail so, the reader gets a visual of his life. I know this is the purpose because, it's on the pages what is being asked and answered from James Vince.

Format and style: The format and style of this is a magazine and it consists of four photos of cricket with James Vince being the main focus on the page. There are also ten questions and responses from James Vince, four columns with a quote in the third column. The magazine is A4 with the font being quite small which is slightly difficult to read. Colours that are used in the magazine are: black, red and orange.

Content and meaning: The content and meaning of this magazine is what pieces on the magazine stand out and what the meaning for that is. Something that stands out to me as a reader is the titles and the image, 'Q20, should we have franchises?..' and 'James Vince'. This content stands out the most, as it's big and bold. It's in a clear font and not small so you are able to read it. Also, it's in colour. With the image, it's over one page which is fine and it's clear to see what is being portrayed with his actions. The meaning of the image and titles is to show the reader what is going on in the magazine. The image is to show what James Vince is going is something he enjoys and is passionate for. If I, the reader was pick up or change anything, it would be the image because, it's only on one page and it would be better as a full bleed. It's also not that eye grabbing. Where as if it was a full bleed, I think more people would be drawn to it.

Genre: The genre of this magazine is sports, as it's about cricket and cricket is a type of sport.

Target Audience: The target audience of this magazine is anyone interested in cricket, as the content is not offensive, there isn't any inappropriate images or language. 55+ .

Frequency: The frequency for this article is monthly, as it's part of a magazine (The Cricketer) which is sold monthly.

Purpose: The purpose of this magazine is again to educate the reader on Owais Shah's life during his cricket career. I know this, as at the top of the page it explains what the article is going to be about.

Format and Style: The format and style of this is a magazine which consists of a full bleed image over the double page of Owais Shah, the cricket player. There is big and bold fonted titles and headings. With the writing on the left hand side of the pages, it's small so again is slightly difficult to read. Like the first magazine there are four columns with a quote in the third. The font used is clear

Content an Meaning: The content and meaning of this magazine is what's init and what it means. Something that again stands out the most is the full bleed image. It's spread across the double page so, you can see more of it instead of getting half an image. It's also more eye grabbing! Owais Shah is in focus with the background blurred out. This is because, the article is about him, his life and nothing else. It's good that the image is a full bleed which draws in more readers. If this image was on one page, I don't think, as a reader many more people would be interested in reading.

Genre: The genre of this magazine is again sport, as the article is about cricket.

Target Audience: The target audience for this magazine is anyone who is interested in cricket. There isn't any inappropriate images or offensive language that some readers may find horrifying. 55+.

Frequency: The frequency for this article is monthly, as it's part of a magazine (The Cricketer) which is sold monthly.

Production process for a magazine:

Pre-production: Pre production is work done before the production begins. This will be the additional scripts being created for the interview taken for questions and answers. Draft layout of how the producers wanted the magazines to look like with headings, images, quotes and questions and answers. Location recce is an understanding of what to consider when at a location you want to shot at; is for the location the photo shoots are at for the magazine images. Risk assessment is needed so people understand the risks that may be caused and how to prevent them. Permission to shoot at the location is needed and for participants they are needed to sign a model release form so they know their identity is kept.

Production: Production is the action of making or manufacturing from components or raw materials, or the process of being so manufactured. This will be the following up on the additional script to make sure it's appropriate to put in a magazine. Setting up equipment safely following the risk assessments, so setting up the camera safely when in the process of a photo shoot. Making sure the camera settings are right and correct so, images aren't blurry.

Post- production: Post production is the work done on a film or recording after filming or recording has taken place. This is the final point of production for the product being created. So, checking through all images, text, layout and appropriateness to make sure it is suitable for publishing.

Production process for a film:

Pre-production: Pre- production is the work done before a production begins. This will be the additional scripts being created for the interview taken for questions and answers. Storyboards are created to jot down a vision the producer has thought of how they want their film or short documentary to look like, frame by frame. Sample footage is a real life creation of the storyboard that's been created. This is just a sample of what the vision will look like.  Location recce is an understanding of what to consider when at a location you want to film at.

This will be the following up on the additional script and storyboard to make sure it's appropriate to put in a film/ short documentary and to make sure it's a suitable vision. Setting up equipment safely following the risk assessments, so setting up the camera safely when in the process of a making a film/short documentary. Making sure the camera settings are correct so, the footage isn't blurry and doesn't have any misjudgments of what's join ton in the frame. Also, the rule of third on camera settings. This is having a grid on your camera screen so you can see where the participants sit in frame. This is to make sure it's in focus throughout.

Post-production: Post production is the work done on a film or recording after filming or recording has taken place. This is putting together a rushes log all of footage used in a film/ short documentary to show how many frame and footage that you've used. Any special and visuals effects needed will happening when editing and any video and audio editing will be tweak through the editing process.

P4- Presentation.

*For my presentation, I didn't use a powerpoint. Instead, I used my wix page which I found difficult to use because, I had to keep scrolling to find work and it became very annoying. Whereas if it was on a powerpoint, it would've been so much easier to see, as it's all on the same page. I also used my work book where I stored and wrote everything I needed for the pitch.*

*(Left) is my 'Pitch Perfect' presentation I found in my Google Drive. I believe I created it just after or before, but I couldn't find it.*

Feedback from 'pitch perfect'.

Reece's feedback;

Auntie:

Nice idea to ask her questions with answered you don't already know.

Lovely image of your auntie; simplistic, not adding too much text is nice. Legible text on magazine layout.

Nan:

Join ideas. There is a common theme of 'family' running throughout.

A friend:

Who's the friend?

Would have been good to import images onto slides.

Glad you were honest about not taking any ideas from the analysis.

Make notes to read from- good you didn't read from the slides though.

Elliot's feedback;

Auntie;

Beautiful full-bleed images. Could this be a series? Based on availability of good usable images. 'What's a hero?'

Brilliant access. Calm interviews

What's the story? How could your audience feel?

My feedback;

I have taken on board the feedback I was given. About combining the two magazine ideas; my auntie and my Nan, I'm considering doing that.

For next time, I will add images on my powerpoint of what I'm talking about. Also, write down some notes to help me out!!

*When presenting my pitch, I used my Wix and workbook. Wix because, everything was in place and was easy to get to. My workbook because, it had all my sketches/ drafts in and again was easy to look at.

Criminal Offences: -Using copyrighted work without content.

Legal and Ethical issues:

The difference between legal and ethical issues stems from the division between the core areas of law and ethics; law controls what people can and cannot do, while ethics are moral standards that govern what people should or should not do.

With my 'Everyday people' social documentary I need to consider legal and ethical issues. When producing posters and film the legal issue is having  permission from my auntie to take a film of her and another legal issue is copy right. I need to make sure when making posters I don't copy someone else's background and with film, I need to make sure I don't copy music.

Ethically I need to consider inappropriate language and content. If when filming about my aunt's life, she might say something that could may be offend someone and with posters, I will have to double check that there isn't any inappropriate language.

 project schedule for 'Everyday People'.

This project schedule is to show my progress that I've gone through and done throughout planning the project.
